disney marathon

Well...I DID IT! It's already been ONE whole week, crazy!
I'm on day 14 of the flu, but I think I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can't even remember the last time I was this sick!! It just really got me this year. I finally got my voice back yesterday and coughing a little less phlegm each day. It's a small miracle that I was able to finish the marathon! I was miserable the day before (looking a little pale in the packet pick-up and expo photos) I knew there was no way I could NOT do it, or at least try. I did everything I could to stay positive, woke up at 3am and headed out the door. Dad and Eric drove us down to the start line and got there in time to walk and walk and walk to the start line and then proceed to our corral. I felt like I was on auto-pilot for the first 6 miles. It was great having mom right next to me to keep me going AND to talk to me since I busy coughing and ended up with no voice by the end of the race. It was SO fun running through and around all the parks, the entertainment along the way was great and we loved seeing Dad and Eric at the Magic Kingdom castle around mile 5 and stopped for a quick high-five and a kiss. Mile 17 is where it really hit me and my legs were SORE and tired. I just told myself I had to get to mile 20 and then it would all be downhill from there...well that wasn't quite true. The last six were brutal and by that point we were just ready to be done! I was so lucky to have mom stay with me and it made the end that much more sweet when we crossed the finish together.

Definitely not my best race, and my time was nothing close to what I was wanting or expecting, but at the end of the day, all I wanted to do was finish. Finishing was a huge accomplishment considering how terrible I felt. It was well worth the Mickey medal! I look forward to doing another someday soon when I'm feeling healthy!

Stan and Cathy along with Aunt Julie and Uncle Rob were there to congratulate us at the finish-line! Thanks so much for coming and cheering us on! We really felt your love and support!

Huge shout out to Uncle Rob for making this great video for us!

After the race we had ONE day to recover and then off to the parks to PLAY!

To Be Continued...
