Where to begin? Mom and Dad had the perfect trip to Statia! I am so glad that they were able to come and experience my everyday island life. Each day was a new adventure and we had a blast!
Here are a few highlights of each day.
DAY 1:
Mom and Dad arrive at 11:17 AM from St. Maarten. Eric and I picked them up and took them for a little driving tour around town. After a short drive and getting their things settled at our house we went straight to the beach and couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! They enjoyed sun bathing and taking a dip in the somewhat chilly ocean!
DAY 2:
We woke up on Thursday morning to a little bit of rain and some clouds and decided it would be a good day for a hike! We took off our flip flops and put on our hiking shoes and headed up to the crater rim of the volcano. It's a great hike to the top with a gorgeous view, but we couldn't stop there...Mom and Dad were troopers while we hiked DOWN into the crater. It was not an easy task, we used ropes to help maneuver ourselves through huge boulders till we reached the bottom. It was incredible to see the massive trees and jungle wildlife, and only 6 snakes EEWwww!!
Needless to say we were all a little sore the next morning...
DAY 3:
We headed out to Whitewall for a picnic lunch with the Tolman Family. We ate some yummy snacks as we enjoyed the beautiful view of St. Kitts. It's always a little windy out there, but totally worth the view!
DAY 4:
We had an amazing day at the beach on Saturday. It was beautiful weather and we packed up all the snorkel gear and headed to the beach. Eric got me an underwater camera for Christmas and we were excited to test it out for the first time. We took lots of really fun pics of us with our masks and underwater, but as Eric was diving down to the ocean floor to pick up sand dollars...we forgot our underwater camera that can only go 3 meters was in his pocket and to make a long story short- we could never get the camera to turn back on :( Sad story, mostly because the pictures were really cute! BUT we headed down to crooks castle and picked up some really great shells and treasures to take home.
So all in all it was a good day!
DAY 5:
After church on Sunday we headed out to Zeelandia beach and got some really cute pictures of everyone! We also enjoyed a super fun superbowl party with our neighbors and best friends the Tolmans with yummy food and good company!
DAY: 6
We took a trip out to the Botanical Gardens and as soon as we pulled in it started raining!! We waited in the car for a few minutes to let it pass and once it did it was beautiful! Mom and Dad really enjoyed walking through the garden and checking out the flowers and fruit trees. We even got two tomato plants to bring home and dad planted them in my yard! Hopefully we get some yummy tomatoes before April.
We also had a nice walk out to my favorite sunset lookout and made it just in time to catch the sun going down! I love being able to see the Caibbean and the Altantic Oceans from here. Oh and the sunset is pretty awesome too. : )
DAY 7:
On their last day we decided we needed to go to the beach for sure in the morning and then we had a nice early birthday lunch for me and Eric at a fun little restaurant right on the water. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing on the porch enjoying the view of the water and snacking on a delicious coconut. (Dad chopped it up survivor style with a machete)
It really was the perfect trip!
Thanks Mom and Dad for taking the time to relax with us on our lovely island!
We will never forget it!
Lotts of Love
