weekend running

Right now I am sitting here on the bed with wet hair fresh out of the shower, a ziplock bag of ice on my knee and listening to my husband recite medical terms to himself, words that I cannot even attempt to repeat, and drinking lots of water, water and more water!

Today I ran 10 miles and I'm BEAT!

I've been following a pretty strict training schedule since the 4th of August and experience my strong and my not so strong days. Today was just plain tough! Most of you know I'm training to run the Disney Marathon in Orlando on January 13, 2013. I even talked my mom into doing it with me! She already ran a marathon, among many other competitive races, so she is my inspiration and I thought it would be fun to do one together while we're both still youngISH ; )

Since returning back to Georgia I've missed being able to run the long days with Mom and I REALLY miss Pine Lake! So, I had to find a new trail. After a little research I discovered the Silver Comet Trail which is over 100 miles of paved trail from Smyrna, GA all the way to the state line of Alabama! Pretty awesome. So I've been running while my trusty, and very motivating husband rides his bike along my side. Most days I can get him to run a few miles with me, and then he picks up the rest on his bike.

Today was the first day I experimented with GU.  The flavor isn't bad but the texture is a little strange so I definitely need something to wash it down with. I also can't run without my iphone and my trusty Nike+ app. It's tracked all my miles thus far along with all of my individual runs. Sonya Richards Ross even talked to me today and told me what a great job I was doing! : ) It tracks my time at each mile and also my average pace throughout the run. Pretty awesome. I'm also a huge fan of Frost Riptide Rush Gatorade right now. YUM

Well, that's my running update for the day! I'm going to take care of my sore knee, do some more stretching and cuddle with my hard working hubby.

insta 10

Don't worry, I didn't forget! I just lost track of time and got my days confused after traveling. Ha!
Well, we are here! Marietta, Georgia! Eric started his review course today and we will be here for the next 5 weeks! He is anxious, nervous and excited to get back into a study groove, how he retains all that information, I will never know. Hopefully you can look forward to lots of blog post from me since I'll have tons more time to kill while my husband studies away!

1. I did some cleaning out while we were packing for Georgia
and found my A&F board that we used for folding shirts, this sure brought back a
lot of memories and made me miss my Abercrombie peeps.

2. While Eric was at my parents this woodchuck
(or rockchuck as they call them in Idaho- eric informed me)
was living in our yard. We saw him almost everyday either
in the backyard or the driveway, just enjoying some delicious grass.

3. Still trucking along with my marathon training.
 Ran 8 miles last week.
I get to run 10 this Saturday : )

4. Just some random geese I chased on my run.

5. Had fun looking through some old photo
albums with Eric and found this gem.
Me & Mel

6. Recognize this guy?? We got to attend to a benefit right before we left
where BILLY DEAN performed!

7. Mom made us the most delicious cracker mix for our long drive.

8. Bowling Green, MO
I had to have a pic

9. We arrived! Marietta, Georgia!
Our new home for 5 short weeks.

10. It's rainy here! A nice change from the drought in Iowa
